Modern Glass Façade for Rome's Colosseum

A revolutionary glass façade wrapping around one side of the Colosseum in Rome, designed to protect the ancient ruins while offering a modern entrance and visitor center. The glass structure is gently curved, following the original geometry of the amphitheater, supported by a fine lattice of bronze mullions that echo the rhythm of the Colosseum’s arches. The glass panels are photochromic, subtly adjusting their tint to match the tones of the travertine stone throughout the day. The project is captured in late afternoon light, with a 24mm architectural lens highlighting the contrast between the worn textures of the ruins and the sleek modern intervention, while a telephoto shot captures tourists interacting with the transparent façade.
