THE SHADOW HUNTERS OF THE HAUSA SAVANNAH CHAPTER ONE: THE PROPHECY OF THE ANCIENTS SCENE 1: THE SACRED CHAMBER OF THE EMIR’S PALACE (The room is dimly lit, the flickering flames of oil lamps casting long shadows on the walls. The scent of burning herbs lingers in the air. At the center of the chamber, an elderly blind seer, BABA MASANI, sits cross-legged before a small brazier of glowing embers. His frail hands tremble as he hovers them over the divination stones within the flames. The only other presence in the chamber is ADO, the Emir’s first son, standing tall, his muscular frame tense with anticipation. His dark skin gleams under the firelight, his eyes sharp and unwavering.) BABA MASANI (his voice hoarse, whispering as if listening to unseen forces) The darkness is rising again… The spirits whisper of an old evil, one that walks in the shadows, unseen yet felt. ADO (clenching his fists, stepping closer) Then tell me what must be done, Baba. I will not let Zazzau fall. (The embers flicker wildly, as if responding to the seer’s silent conversation with the spirits. Baba Masani lifts his head, his milky-white eyes staring blindly at Ado, yet his expression filled with an eerie knowing.) BABA MASANI (solemnly) You must gather the Shadow Hunters. Only they can stand against the Night Beast.
